I don’t think anyone is accusing you of being an asshole, but the cold and hard truth is that men statistically are far more likely to commit violent and sexual crimes than women, and too many of them have been responsible for shitty behaviour throughout the centuries and to this day. Of course there are many good, honest men, but the problem is that toxic masculine culture both legitimises male aggression while repressing positive, emotional or altruistic instincts among guys. The ad isn’t an attack on men, it’s an attack on a destructive mentality which both causes damage to women and society at large (bullying, rape, domestic violence, etc.) as well as men themselves and their mental health. Men are often battling depression, anxiety or other psychological issues as a result of a culture which expects them to be stoic and emotionless at all times. Ultimately, toxic masculinity negatively affects everyone.
