Thank you for picking up on this. Too often the Remain camp just focused on cold economic factors (losing jobs, pound devaluing, etc) which are clearly important but don’t go to the heart of the EU’s true value – as a peace-keeping project to cultivate co-operation between European nations, countries which have historically been at war with each other since the dawn of their existence. Brexit will clearly have a major economic impact on Britain, but its most insidious (and subtle) consequence will be a cultural one.
